MUSIAD WOMEN ESTABLISHED A "FAMILY AND HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION" TO PREVENT VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN

With more than 300 female members, MUSIAD Women, the business organization that includes the largest number of women, continues its struggle against violence against women without slowing down. Continuing its efforts to increase the number of women entrepreneurs in business life, MUSIAD Women established a "Family and Human Rights Commission" within the scope of the 25 November International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.

MÜSİAD Women, which is the business world organization that includes the most women with more than 300 women members, aims to provide more opportunities to women entrepreneurs through ways such as creating employment, developing education and entrepreneurship, providing better access to the labor market and equal opportunities. MUSIAD Women established a "Family and Human Rights Commission" as part of the 25 November International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. MUSIAD Women's Chair Meryem İlbahar said, "As MUSIAD Women, we will work to focus on all violations of rights, and in particular to determine our methods of combating violence against women, in order to prevent violence and make it preventable, while standing against all kinds of violence regardless of who/how it is applied. We have established the "Family and Human Rights Commission" in our new term in order to be in close contact with this issue, which we often experience in the social field," he said.

"OPENS DEEP WOUNDS WITHOUT REMEDY"

Pointing out that violence is a phenomenon that creates negative effects in every aspect of life in today's world, İlbahar continued: “The existence of violence as a problem through different channels brings along the struggle against it. Regardless of the way it is applied, violence inflicts irreparable deep wounds on individuals and societies. It is the duty of the state, institutions and individuals to make efforts to find permanent solutions to this problem, which we may face in every aspect of our lives, and to display the necessary struggle. On the occasion of November 25, International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, we have to emphasize that "Violence Against Women", which constitutes today's topic, is the most fundamental violation of human rights and causes many harms on women in the physical, psychological or economic fields.

"OUR FIGHT AGAINST WOMEN WILL CONTINUE"

Noting that they are following with concern that the cases of violence against women continue exponentially despite the gains made in recent years and increasing awareness, MUSIAD Women's President Meryem İlbahar said, "Violence against women, which is seen as a big problem on a global scale, has been proven by the researches. appears to have remained. While the rate of women over the age of 15 who have been subjected to violence is 26%, we see that the rate of women who stated that they have been exposed to violence in the last year of their lives is 10%. According to the research conducted by the General Directorate of the Status of Women (KSGM), the rate of women who are exposed to physical or sexual violence is 38%, the rate of women who are exposed to psychological or emotional violence is 44%, and the rate of women who are exposed to economic violence is 30%. According to the records of the Ministry of Interior, unfortunately, 267 women died in our country in 2020 due to the deliberate act of killing. In order to combat this unfortunate situation, the development of legal regulations in our country continues, and the process is followed up with various awareness-raising and protection activities. We would like to inform you that, on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, 25 November, we will continue our fight against violence against women, being aware of these responsibilities, and we will work to raise the awareness of our future generations and as a society.”
