Mahmut Asmalı, President of MUSIAD, said, "It is aimed to reach 42 million tourists and 35 billion dollars in revenue in 2022. The projection of the sector for 2028 is to reach 120 million tourists and 100 billion dollars in revenue."
In his speech at the 105th General Administrative Board of MUSIAD on "Development of Qualified Tourism" attended by Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Nadir Alparslan, Asmalı said that they are progressing by signing innovative strategies, collaborations and new business models in the tourism sector, as in every sector. .
Stating that they will work until they make Turkey a world brand in tourism, Asmalı said, "Despite all the developments, the tourism sector has the power to maximize the perception of Turkey in national and global perspectives. Despite the negative effects of the epidemic, our country will decrease in the number of foreign visitors in 2021. "This figure exceeded 29 million, and tourism revenues exceeded 24 billion dollars. These figures correspond to an 83% increase in the number of visitors and a 100% increase in revenue compared to 2020." said.
Stating that the difficulties experienced in the tourism sector in the previous periods were managed skillfully, Asmalı stated that the most important method of gaining immunity against all crises is to turn to market diversity.
The trend in tourism has changed during the epidemic period
Stating that steps should be taken to activate domestic tourism with alternative tourism types in the tourism sector, Asmalı noted that the Ministry of Culture and Tourism has implemented a very effective strategy at this point. Explaining that as MUSIAD, they closely follow the innovative breakthroughs of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Tourism Development Agency, Asmalı said, "In line with these actions, it is aimed to reach 42 million tourists and 35 billion dollars in revenue in 2022. Stating that during the epidemic period in Turkey and around the world, a changing trend was observed towards alternative tourism types instead of all-inclusive concept accommodation businesses, Asmalı stated that offering new experiences to local and foreign tourists in this context should be the most important focus of all partners operating in the tourism sector.
Underlining that they should continue to develop innovative projects in order to raise the country's awareness abroad to the highest level, Asmalı said: "Formula 1 is a part of sports tourism events such as bicycle races, winter tourism organizations, nature and adventure tourism, cultural tourism activities, Hajj and Umrah organizations. It is of great importance to accelerate the expansion of halal tourism, health and thermal tourism potential, series-film tourism, wedding tourism, innovative services of chain hotels, gastronomy-oriented projects identified with different provinces, and to announce them to large masses. Steps will be taken to create gastronomy routes, to develop cultural tours and health tourism, and to increase the shopping expenditures of tourists. New cultural routes and routes for land and bicycle tourism will be created. The number of bicycle-friendly hotels will be increased. white. In addition to our main markets that send large numbers of tourists to Turkey, we will also focus on emerging markets such as China, India, South Korea and Japan in the Far East and Pacific regions.
Asmalı added that they have the experience and employment power to carry Turkey's tourism potential to a much brighter future in terms of service, experience and satisfaction in 2022 and beyond.
Asmalı presented an Orphan Patronage Certificate to the representatives of the tourism sector who participated in the panel on "Development of Quality Tourism" within the scope of MUSIAD's Great Social Responsibility Project.
