The 3rd Anatolian Economic Diplomacy Program was hosted by MUSIAD Samsun branch with the participation of Hungarian Ambassador Victor Matis.
The program started with the opening speech of MUSIAD Samsun Branch President Hasan Tahsin Şengül. In her speech, Şengül expressed that she was happy to be holding this program in Samsun, the city with the highest potential in the Black Sea, and told the embassy guests about the history and commercial development of Samsun. He stated that Samsun is in a strategic position in the Black Sea region due to its geographical location, both by air, sea, land and railway transportation. Şengül drew attention to the fact that Samsun is the gateway to the provinces of the region and neighboring geographies and has a wide hinterland in terms of commercial potential, since it is the junction point of our country opening to the Black Sea countries on the Europe-Asia transit route. Thanks to Samsun's 3 ports, free zones, 8 Organized Industrial Zones, 2 Universities, two large plains of our country (Çeşamba and Bafra Plains), advanced infrastructure in the service sector, and transportation opportunities; He stated that it is one of the important provinces of our country that grows and develops with its industry, trade, agriculture, tourism, health and education potentials. He stated that the export figure of the province for 2021 is 1.3 million dollars, and it is in the 18th place with this figure.
Noting that the contribution of our MUSIAD members is great in the increase of export figures day by day, 10 companies from Samsun in the top 1000 companies in the 2020 TIM list are MUSIAD members, and 3 of the 6 companies from Samsun in the top 500 in the 2020 ISO list. ü and 1 out of 7 companies in the second 500 informed that we are members of MUSIAD. He stated that Samsun exported to 164 countries and 4 free zones in 2021, and the top 5 exporting countries were China, Peru, USA, Netherlands and Russian Federation. Şengül stated that Samsun Chamber of Commerce and Industry was established in 1901, that according to the records of Samsun Chamber of Commerce and Industry, there are 200 foreign capital companies in the province and that these are mainly investments of countries such as Germany, United States of America, Albania, Austria, Azerbaijan, adding Hungary to this list. He said it would make them happy.
In the program that continued with the speeches of MUSIAD Diplomatic Relations Commission President Osman Nuri Önügören, Önügören stated that the 3rd Anatolian Economic Diplomacy Program, which we held, is a manifestation of our excitement for our country and our love for our cities. The program; He stated that he aimed to explain and introduce the potentials of our different Anatolian cities in order to develop trade, increase employment and increase exports. He stated that he wanted to focus more on our provinces, whose export figures have decreased over the years, and to raise these figures to higher levels together.
The Hungarian Ambassador, Victor MATİS, started his speech by stating how important it was for him to be at the place where the Historical Struggle started on 19 May. He stated how beneficial it was for MUSIAD to take the ambassadors to different provinces of Anatolia and to introduce the representatives of foreign countries to associations and businessmen on the field. He gave a speech on the political and economic relations between Hungary and Turkey. In his speech, he gave the good news that 2024 will be the year of Turkey-Hungary Common Culture. He informed that Hungary will bring 100 major cultural activities in a year, and the budget allocated for this is approximately 3 million Euros. Stating that Hungary and Turkey are natural allies in every sense, Ambassador Matis stated that Hungary supports Turkey politically in all matters, including the European Union and NATO. He said that Turkey already has a very important position in politics and international security, especially in the last 15 years. He stated how important Turkey is for Europe, and therefore for Hungary.
The program continued with the presentation of investment opportunities in Hungary by Hungarian Commercial Counselor Miklos Bujaky and Hungarian Export Promotion Agency (HEPA) Business Development Manager Burak Özdemir.
Protocol Speeches ended with the speech of MUSIAD Deputy Chairman Davut ALTUNBAŞ. Starting his speech by talking about the visits of Hungary, which has hundreds of common words in its language, to the country where the hospitality to Turks is at the highest level, ALTUNBAŞ stated that for our members who want to trade with Europe commercially, they can use Hungary as a training ground and be discussed as a country that will transport them to Europe. . He stated that Hungary, which has a Gross National Product of approximately 155 billion dollars, with a population of 9.8 million, attracts more than 10 million tourists to Budapest alone. It can be seen that Hungary, which is at the very center of Europe, can be an ecosystem of opportunities in the business world, and can be seen as a warehouse for product exits to Europe. He mentioned that in small investments, we can obtain documents that can bring our products to European Union standards by changing the origin, that we can transport goods to many parts of the world duty-free, and that the country with the lowest corporate tax in Europe with 9% is advantageous. He stated that Anatolian Economy Diplomacy wanted to carry the mental memory obtained during courtesy visits to the Ambassadors to a visual memory by bringing the Ambassador and his delegation to Anatolia and having them visit the member companies' factories.
