In August 2022, the seasonal and calendar adjusted SAMEKS Composite Index decreased by 4.4 points compared to the previous month and regressed to 49.6.
The decline in the Service Sector SAMEKS Index to 49.6 with a decrease of 5.3 points compared to the previous month played a decisive role in this development. The rapid loss of momentum in the business volume compared to the previous month was effective in the decrease observed in the service sector.
The Industrial Sector SAMEKS Index, which remained above the reference value with 50.6 despite a decrease of 1.9 points compared to the previous month, limited the decrease in the Composite Index. In this period, although new orders in the industrial sector showed a weak outlook, the increase in production continued.
Thus, the seasonal and calendar adjusted SAMEKS Composite Index, which was above the reference value of 50 during the January-July period of 2022, decreased by 4.4 points compared to July and declined to 49.6, indicating that economic activity has slowed down compared to the previous month.
