MUSIAD continues the Zimem tradition, inherited from the Ottoman Empire, this Ramadan. Making evaluations on the subject, Mahmut Asmalı, President of MUSIAD, stated that citizens in need were extended with the Zimem Book application.
While the Independent Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association (MUSIAD) continues its efforts to heal the wounds in the disaster area after the severe earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş, it also keeps the ancient traditions of Anatolia alive with practices such as Karz-ı Hasen and Zimem.
MUSIAD, which provides interest-free or grant capital support to its members affected by the earthquake with the Karz-ı Hasen study, also extends its hand to the citizens in need with the Zimem.
The Zimem tradition continues throughout the year
Making evaluations about the Zimem tradition, MUSIAD President Mahmut Asmalı stated that citizens and small tradesmen were supported with the application.
In his statement, President Asmalı said, "Our philanthropic members buy the credit books of our needy and aggrieved brothers, only by dealing with the sellers, through the Zimem work, thus exhibiting a beautiful and acceptable example of donation."
Underlining that the practice is continued throughout the year, mostly during Ramadan, Mayor Asmalı urged philanthropic business people to contribute to this beautiful practice on the occasion of Ramadan and to make those in need happy.
What is Zimem?
Zimem; The credit book, as it is called today, refers to the prospective debting of the buyer by noting the goods purchased by the seller. In the Ottoman Empire, wealthy people would buy zimem notebooks by paying all the debts written in them.
One of the points that makes the application special is that the debtor and the person who pays the debt do not see or know each other, faithful to the hadith "the left hand will not see what the right hand gives". The Zimem, the elegant method of competing in charity and helping each other, where the hand that receives does not know the hand that gives; It is continued as an example of solidarity by MUSIAD members.
