SAMEKS GAINED MOMENTARY IN APRIL

In April 2023, the seasonal and calendar adjusted SAMEKS Composite Index increased by 4.4 points compared to the previous month and rose to 56.3.

Thus, SAMEKS, which contracted in February due to the earthquake disaster, saw that the recovery that took place in March accelerated in April.

In this period, the Industrial Sector SAMEKS Index, which increased by 6.4 points compared to the previous month, rose to 59.0, while the Service Sector SAMEKS Index, which increased by 4.0 points compared to the previous month and rose to 55.1, played a decisive role in the increase observed in the Composite Index.

While the significant increase in new orders compared to the previous month was effective in the increase in the industrial sector, the high level of input purchases in the services sector was the main factor of the acceleration in the index. As a result of these developments, it was observed that the employment sub-index increased in both sectors.

Thus, in this period when the global economy was going through a stagnant and fragile recovery period, the seasonally and calendar adjusted SAMEKS Composite Index reached the highest level of the last 11 months with 56.3 points, indicating a very positive performance for the real sector.
