Food, Agriculture and Livestock Sector Board held its October meeting in Antalya on October 4.
At the Meeting and Trade Development Meeting, the current situation, development, problems and solution suggestions of Agriculture were discussed. Providing information about Antalya regarding agriculture, Antalya Food, Agriculture and Livestock Sector Board Chairman Soner Kurucan said: Antalya has reached an export of 2 Billion 24 Million dollars by the end of 2022.
Of Antalya's total exports, 55.9% of fresh vegetables and fruits constitute 586.3 million dollars, 5.7% of ornamental plants constitute 59.3 million dollars, 4.2% of grains, legumes and seeds constitute 442 million dollars, and 34.2% of 358.4 million dollars are other agricultural areas. Antalya ranks first in Türkiye with its plant production value of 19.3 Billion TL.
Cemal Özen, Chairman of the Food, Agriculture and Livestock Sector Board, said in his speech;
How can we increase agricultural awareness? How can we turn agriculture from being a livelihood occupation into an industry and a great economic power? "As the Sector Board, we are working on Tarımfest, Agricultural Universities and Agricultural High Schools," he said. Touching on the issue of cooperatives, Özen said: “We expect that food will become more important than industry all over the world. That's why we must increase production and efficiency. There are 20 cooperatives in the Netherlands. While 97% of production and distribution goes through them, although there are 3000 cooperatives in our country, this rate is around 1.5%. "The only thing that will save our country's agriculture is unity." said.
At the end of the meeting, Cemal Özen presented the "Orphan Patronage Certificate" to MÜSİAD Antalya Branch President Ali Akçay and expressed his gratitude for hosting. The program ended with a group photo.
