The Independent Industrialists and Businessmen’s Association (MÜSİAD) has published a comprehensive volume shedding light on its 35-year journey. Titled “Together as One: Thirty-Five Years,” the almanac chronicles the organization’s path from its founding in 1990 to the present day, presenting MÜSİAD’s institutional memory through a historical, thematic, and sociological lens.

Accompanying Türkiye’s socio-economic transformation over the past thirty-five years, MÜSİAD’s publication not only narrates its own story but also documents the collective efforts of Anatolian capital to organize, the evolution of a local and national development perspective, and a business stance built upon ethical values.

The “Together as One: Thirty-Five Years” almanac features a rich content compiled through oral history interviews, periodical analyses, visual archives, and document reviews. It includes in-depth firsthand accounts from MÜSİAD’s founders, former presidents, commission representatives, and regional leaders who have served the association over the years.

The almanac reveals that MÜSİAD is more than just a business organization. It stands as a force that strengthens civil society, prioritizes a value-based development model, and serves as a driving structure within Türkiye’s domestic entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Founded in 1990, MÜSİAD rapidly expanded across Anatolia and established branches both nationally and internationally. It has come to represent a business model shaped by the principles of morality, justice, and productivity. Today, MÜSİAD operates in 83 locations across Türkiye and 183 points in 85 countries around the world, making it one of Türkiye’s most widespread civil society organizations.

The almanac also covers MÜSİAD’s principled and responsible stance during key historical moments such as the February 28 process, the July 15 resistance, its activities under the shadow of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the devastating earthquakes in the country. In addition, it provides detailed insights into MÜSİAD’s flagship projects such as MÜSİAD EXPO, IBF (International Business Forum), Young MÜSİAD, Women’s Entrepreneurship Platform, Karz-ı Hasen Fund, and SAMEKS.

Furthermore, the publication honors notable figures who supported and contributed to the organization’s founding, including the late Prof. Dr. Necmettin Erbakan, the late President Turgut Özal, and current President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Their leadership and guidance on the institutionalization of Anatolian capital are documented through various accounts and archival material.

The almanac emphasizes that MÜSİAD’s vision is shaped not only by economic goals but also by a holistic approach that encompasses moral, social, and cultural dimensions. As the voice of the Anatolian business world in Türkiye’s post-1980 development model, MÜSİAD transforms its journey from past to future into a lasting archive through this work.

Edited by Mustafa Halil Aydın and with Mehmet Akif Altan as Editor-in-Chief, the “Together as One: Thirty-Five Years” almanac also serves as a valuable reference in academic historiography. Beyond being a corporate archive, it stands out as a comprehensive resource contributing to the fields of business history, civil society, and economic development in Türkiye.

Each page of this work reflects collective effort, a value-driven stance, and the will of civil society—while also shedding light on MÜSİAD’s vision for the future.
